Being a Beacon!

As we approach the time when we re-open our buildings I’ve been drawn ever more to God in prayer. Our week of prayer, and fasting on Monday, has been a time of real encouragement. As we’ve met and prayed God has reinforced to us that we are to be a beacon in the community – both a warning that to ignore the light of salvation will bring you crashing on the rocks and a bright light to enable safe passage to be found that is salvation in Jesus. So what’s next? I don’t fully know, but I am trusting God my Saviour who does. We had a picture as we prayed in church this week from Revelation 3 v 8 “I know your deeds. See I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” The doors of our church were open and we sensed God wanted us to be welcoming people in, but even more for us to be going out in the name of Jesus to bring the Good News to those we meet and serve. It’s not about the little strength we have either, but the immeasurable riches that God bestows on us by the power of His Holy Spirit. May we be equipped to serve Him by going out with the gospel of peace and may the neighbourhood echo the words of John 13 v 35 “by this everyone will know that you are my disciples.”
