Conquerors In ALL Circumstances

In Romans 8 it says the following: ‘35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ I wonder how you are coping as we live through these ‘unprecedented times’? Perhaps you, like me, are totally fed up with the situation that appears to have no end. As we have moved into Lockdown 2 so many people are struggling in different ways: financially, emotionally (as they can not see friends and family), physically and it can be difficult to acknowledge the love of God in all things. Richard and I have been struggling with the pressure of work. Initially we would laugh at the miles I walked each day as I have to move to students to teach rather than them come to me but it is draining and I have to be honest and say that the half term week was not enough to allow me to recharge my batteries. Richard too is working long hours as he tries to catch up with the jobs that he put off in the first lockdown and as boilers struggle to cope with the colder weather. So, what do we do about this? We are called to acknowledge the Lord in all circumstances and to give Him the sovereignty, after all, if we deny Him the power to act how can He? This week and in the weeks ahead I am going to claim that in ALL circumstances I am a conqueror through the power of Christ and give Him the honour. Let’s ALL do this so that the Lord can be sovereign and He can guide our paths. Ali
