Free from Fear!

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.” Isaiah 40.31(NLT). “You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.” Ps. 139.5 (NLT). In the week before my affirmation as Lead Elder I have to confess to becoming apprehensive as I thought about the formidable challenge ahead. I determined to make an appointment with God and so I set aside a morning and drove up to a little place called Muggleswick, which sits above Derwent reservoir, not exactly Mount Sinai but beautiful none the less. A time apart from the busyness, with time to read God’s word, time to pray and time just to relax in his presence. I always find it amazing that I don’t create more opportunities for this! God has not made the future seem any less challenging but He has realigned my focus back to Him with scripture which speaks of His reassuring presence. I am endeavouring to learn these verses so that I can constantly be reminded of God’s strength and love in order to be set free from the paralysis of fear. Bryan
