Get dressed. Thoughtfully!

Ephesians 6 verses 10 to 17 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

As a fellowship we have finished studying the first part of the book of Joshua and there has been battle after battle. Throughout the study Joshua was successful in battle when he followed God’s plan and so the question still remains why didn’t he do what he was told every time? I’m sure we can all remember when we were told off as children:  We knew we had done wrong; we knew that we had been naughty and yet…. Did we stop getting into trouble again?

As we are moving on to study the book of Acts together I am aware that we are still in a battle but we need to remind ourselves that we are not alone and, just as God, guided Joshua, God is on our side wanting to lead us to victory and He has provided. We need to stand, supported by God’s truth; protected by His righteousness and firm on the Word of God. We also are protected by Faith, Salvation and the Sword of the Holy Spirit. As we get dressed each morning to prepare for a new day, let’s clothe ourselves in the Lord as we get washed and dressed and let’s be His army as we go about our every day. Ali
