God’s Camaraderie!

Last Monday I had a very enjoyable visit to Beamish Open-Air Museum and although not all the exhibits were open, my favourite, the pit village was.  Looking around I couldn’t help but shudder as I considered the hardship these men and boys endured as they descended into the dark and dangerous world below. What took me by surprise, however, was to read on one of the displays comments by young miners of the 1960’s expressing how much they would miss the job because of the camaraderie and community that was born out of living together and sharing the hardship and struggle that came with being a miner. They valued the relationships forged. Spend a moment reflecting on the close friends you have, thank God for them, and consider how those relationships deepened. The time and energy you have committed to them, the honest exchange of emotions and feelings as you’ve walked together through all that life has thrown at you. Now, that is exactly the kind of relationship God wants with each one of us and the good news is that it’s made possible by all that Jesus has done for us.  If you want to find out more please consider joining us on one of our Christianity Explored courses (see above).
