Make a Joyful Noise!

1 Chronicles 15:28 (NLT) “So all Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant with shouts of joy, the blowing of rams’ horns and trumpets, the crashing of cymbals, and loud playing on harps and lyres”. I’ve been thinking this week about the impact that sounds can have on us, reading this verse suggests a real cacophony of sound and yet the overall impact is one of joy and delight in the presence of God! My thoughts stem from recent encounters with noise, a video of my new grandson having his first bath which caused him to fill his lungs and give definite voice to his disapproval; our first café church, hearing the loud buzz of conversation as people interacted as a family around tables; overhead tonight there is the rumble & crash of thunder, “The thunder announces his presence;” Job 36.33(NLT). All these sounds have spoken to me of the reality of my God & his abiding presence. I wonder what sounds direct your thoughts to God. Let’s also ask ourselves whether our relationship with God is passionate enough to overflow into an outpouring of uninhibited praise? Bryan
