Putting Christ at the Centre of Christmas

Romans 8:24-25: 24 ‘For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.’ The focus for the first week of Advent is Hope. Bryan spoke to us on Sunday about the root of ‘Advent’ means ‘coming’, that we need to wait expectantly rather than rushing around with the busy- ness of the world’s expectations of Christmas….after all Christmas without Christ is a mass of stress, buying presents, food and all the other activities that have nothing to do with a Christ-centred celebration! Let’s take time to acknowledge that God sent His son to us in the form of a baby and we have a certain hope that He came to save us, to break through the darkness of a God-less world. This Advent may we keep Christ at the centre of all that we do and trust patiently that He will be sovereign in our lives. Ali
