Seed Scatterers!

“Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. 4 As he scattered them across his field…………still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” Luke 8.3-8 NLT. Since returning from our road trip across Europe I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to walk with my dog through fields near Ovingham. Most of the crops to me, seem ready to harvest; rapeseed, barley and wheat all heavy with seed and grain. However, there is one field which the farmer hasn’t touched, no ploughing and certainly no scattering of seed and so instead of producing a harvest it has slowly become a wilderness filled with weeds and overgrown. Jesus, in this parable, says the word of God is like seed and unless that seed is scattered there can be no harvest. As we sow God’s word in our own lives let’s expect to see fruit and then seek to encourage one another by sharing this harvest. Let’s also make the most of every opportunity, especially our summer drop-ins, to scatter the seed of good news about Jesus so that others too can be part of God’s harvest. Sharing Jesus does change lives! Bryan
