An Open Door

Summer is here! It’s the year of the staycation, whether it’s in your own back garden, those local places you love to visit or have always promised to visit, or catching up with friends and family who live further afield. I love to be in the open air, mainly avoiding people, but then there are those encounters when I pass someone as I walk and get into a conversation. People are interesting and interested in other people. Jesus knew that. As He walked and talked with people He was so often aware of things about them beyond the immediate and obvious. As I walk I’m asking God to open my eyes and my ears to see with His eyes and ears. Isaiah 52:7 says “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion. “Your God reigns!” One of the messages from our week of prayer is that God has placed before us an open door. Whether we’re inviting people in or going out to meet them my prayer is that I’ll be listening to the Holy Spirit’s voice, helping me to bring good news in my encounters with others through the summer season.
