Knock! Knock!

Revelation 3 vs 20: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Last week we ‘officially’ opened the front doors of the church building twice; on Wednesday for private prayer and on Sunday to allow church members to ‘attend’ our Sunday afternoon Zoom meetings. Words cannot express how excited I was to stand at the open doors on Wednesday ready to welcome people in to the building for private prayer. We know that God doesn’t live in the building but the open doorway was symbolic for people to come in and have the quiet and space to reflect and pray. This verse states that God is standing at the door and knocking, He wants us to hear Him but it’s up to us to open the door in order to receive Him. Just as we opened the church doors to receive people are you prepared to open the door of your heart to receive Him? If you have received Him, are you eating with Him? Are you studying His Word and spending time with Him? Just as we like to sit together as a family or as a group of friends to eat together and spend time in each other’s presence, so it is with our relationship with God. Ali.
